Good websites generate lots of traffic (visits) from people who are truly interested in the content on your website. This is best done by the principle of meeting the needs of the customer, in this case, the curious seeker of Truth.  There are basically two methods of digital advertising:

  1. Paid Advertising
  2. SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

SEO is a long term process wherein the content of the website is written so that it is useful or interesting to your audience. By doing this, search engines (Google, Yahoo!, Bing) will automatically bring your site closer to the top of the list, just like oil separates from water.

What is SEO?

SEO brings your website listing closer to the top of the list, when someone searches for something like “churches near 37221”.

What are keywords?

The term “Christian church Memphis” is a keyword, even though it is three words.

Another keyword is “Christian churches near me.” As you can see, a keyword can be a whole phrase not just one word.

Keywords are used in Paid Advertising. Different keywords cost different prices to advertise specifically to them.

What does paid advertising look like?

For example, Facebook Ads. When you are reading Facebook, there are lots of ads being presented to you for products, groups, associations, and they all pay to make you look at them.

Paid Advertising is risky only if the advertiser doesn’t know what they’re doing. It takes significant money to make paid advertising work. But if harnessed, it is extremely effective for getting the attention of those who are interested in what you have to offer.

What is the difference between SEO and Paid Advertising? Aren’t they the same?

In SEO, the goal is to rise your website to the top of the search results. Most people don’t look past the first page of a website on Google– that’s the problem, and it takes a while to fix.

But here’s the advantage: If SEO is done properly, it can generate new visitors for a very long time, with much lower or nonexistent continued costs. In other words it is “evergreen.”

It takes a lot of time, effort, and creativity to write and properly organize this content on websites.

Advertising, works for as long as the ad works, but usually increases traffic to the website much quicker if done properly, but is also very complex.
